I remember way back in the dim dark recesses of Lost History (two dozen T13’s ago, to be precise!) how exciting it was to be part of the Blog Boom, riding the wave as the blogosphere exploded with VS content. It seemed like every man and his dog was starting a VS System related blog, and it was a wonder to behold…
… but as with all things, gravity took hold, and what went up slowed to a brief stop, and then tipped from its apogee and started sliding. Damn you and your laws, Newton!
What I’m referring to is the sad number of VS blogs that just dried up. The writers stopped posting. Enthusiasm flared, burn down the matchstick, and then died as it singed the fingers.
This week’s T13, I want to tip my hat at those of us still in the game - a nod, if you will, to 13 blogs that have shoved through the doldrums and gone on to provide a continual stream of VS-related niftiness.
Fellow VS bloggers, in no particular order, this one’s for you. No images this week, cos I’m a lazy sod with a lot to do tonight
One last tease before I proceed to systematically rock your VS world over the next couple of days… thirteen assorted quotes that will most likely make no sense whatsoever to you right now
“Put out characters. Hit with characters. Annoy your opponents?”
“I thought I had it figure out :=-(”
“Just in case, and because he rules. Mysterium for the win.”
“+1/+1 and RANGE. THANK YOU!”
“Punisher is used to get rid of troublemakers”
“(And technically Firestar too)”
“That’s REAL love, in the summer”
“(Other drops are situational)”
“Tack on Seat Of Annihilation and you’ve got a winrar”
Time for a non-VS T13… Thanks to a wonderful pal sharing with me a Youtube video that made me smile a very broad smile indeed, Lost Hemisphere is proud to present to you thirteen videos proving that while they may be under the command of the Dark Lord of the Sith is also the Dark Lord of the Dance, and as such he expects his troopers to follow suit…
NB: Lost Hemisphere accepts no responsibility for any of these performances. We don’t even own Stormtrooper costumes. View at your own risk.
Number one: It’s fun to see Chewie getting down, and the sudden appearance of Zam Wessel is a treat, but Vader’s entrance trumps all.
Okay, this week’s a bit of a cop-out, I admit it… it’s also late, but so be it. Got a lot on the plate at the moment with a houseguest from the home country, stuff going on at work, and all the usual joys of real life… but Marvel Universe, the latest expansion for our beloved trading card game, has been released. With that comes a whole bunch of niftiness for fans of the Avengers, SHIELD, Annihilation, Hulk, etc… for me, I love me some mini teams, and while I could gush about the joys of finally having Nextwave in VS, or the Crime Lords refeature, instead I’m going to look at two other mini teams that have captured my heart, and possibly three or four feet worth of my lower intestine.
Welcome to the 17th edition of Lost Hemisphere’s T13. This week, I’m allowing real life to inspire my listing. Allow me to share:
My precious darling gdaygirl, at 6 1/2 years old, has lost her first tooth. You can see the adult tooth poking up in the gap there - it’s pretty eager, it had broken the surface before the baby tooth was out of the way.
Regardless, with this milestone in my own child’s life, I thought a look at the children of VS might provide a few minute’s distraction.
Captain Spud held me down and demanded I let him to a Thursday Thirteen. Demanded it, I tell ya! I hereby relinquish control of this T13 to CaptainSpud, who runs through a bunch of cards that, if someone could only figure out how to best utilise them, should IN THEORY spell Endgame for your opponents. - Gdaybloke
We’ve all seen them– the cards that inspire a ten-page preview page brimming with insane combo ideas. The card is completely nuts… and yet…
Sadly, very few broken cards ever turn out to be so. They seem busted at first, but in practice there’s always some limiting factor that stops them from performing. But still… the potential is there. Dozens of combo decks have come together over the years on the basis of some clever designer figuring out how to circumvent a cost or a restriction, and turning an expensive or inconsistent effect into a massively powerful one that can be fired easily and cheaply. And so, we can’t simply dismiss these difficult cards just because their straightforward use didn’t pan out– because somewhere, somehow, there must be a way to make them work.
There are hundreds of these cards– broken cards that nobody has broken yet. Here, I present to you a small cross-section of the most notable ones.
One of the most entertaining things for a blogger is seeing all the wierd and wonderful things that crop up in the search query stats. Just what are people typing into their search engines? What unintentional phrases are bring you the mad hits, yo?
Thus, for this week’s Thursday Thirteen, a stroll through some of my favourite terms and phrases that have brought stray wanderers to the Lost Hemisphere.
