At the time of writing, Cryx has taken Tower Judgement. This is a dark time for the Protectorate.
That the taking of Tower Judgement was achieved by what’s essentially a black ops team (ie, without publicly declaring Tower Judgement to be a target) meant that Cryxian command could publicly ask their players to attack elsewhere while leaving the black ops crew to secure their hold in Menite territory.
While I half expected Cygnar’s black ops team to be capable of such a push, I guess I’m a little surprised that Cryx has been able to do it as well… though that said, given that Tower Judgement is the “expected” HQ of the Protectorate, I have to wonder how many factions aren’t bothering to make a concerted effort there, thus enabling Cryx to get a hold on it with less games, simply because less games are being played there.
Less games total = less wins needed for controlling percentage.
So it’s FanExpo time again! Last year I posted a mind-boggling 61 images of people in bizarre costumes, odd merchandise, and general shenaniganry for you to enjoy. This year, I took Lost pal Orcasaurus with me and I’ll be danged if I didn’t get a little snap-happy… A lot of shooting from the hip, cos the best pics are the ones they don’t know you’re taking.
Naturally, that meant every pic wasn’t in focus, and some were just plain unusable, but after culling the chaff, I still ended up with 170+ pics from this year’s FanExpo Friday. One of these years I’ll get to attend a Saturday, when it gets that much more nuts, but for now, you’ll have to make do with this lot
Enjoy! Let’s see how many times I can show how out of touch with subculture I am by incorrectly identifying goths as punks as emos as whatevers!
First up, obligatory pics while standing in line to buy my ticket. Spikey hair dude’s hair was spikey.
Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of Repenter Week! We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay, please lock your tray tables and return your seats to their full, upright position.
To round out our look at our trusty little flamejack, we’re going to take a look at the Repenter in Mk II. Yes, we only have the field test rules to work with, changes may occur before we seen the final version, but it’s enough to work with.
It should be noted that every warjack got a little somethin’ somethin’ in Mk II, with a MAT boost and the changes to the damage rules, but the Repenter in particular got two notable nods.
First, the war flail is now recognised as a chain weapon
Second, the Repenter is now tied for the cheapest warjack available to the Protectorate.
Before the King of the Mountain I hadn’t painted any Menoth models for a while. While doing that event got me into the jack painting mood it doesn’t change the fact that I’m an extremely slow painter! But the Protectorate section of my army case is looking very bare on the metal so here is my newly painted Repenter!
And when I say ’ferret style, I mean a painting project that should take a few days but gets drawn out over several months. This is a bad thing, considering the backlog of commissions I have.
But since I told Chris I’d get this done many moons ago, here it is — a mini-tutorial on how I painted my Repenter.
For starters, 90% of what I paint gets black primer. It’s more forgiving, and it’s how I’ve been painting my minis from the start. The biggest change to the way I do things is drybrushing the metals first. Not only is this faster than layering them, but I actually get them done and enjoy it. Who knew?
Here is my first Warjack that I have prepared the for Breast Cancer Brawl in Boise. I think it’s only fitting I take Feora…and in particular Epic Feora to BCB since she is one of the few female casters that the Protectorate has in its stable. To that end…My fiery girlfriend loves her some fire…so…Let me present to you…Shirl, The Repenter of Everbreast.
“Umm…Yes…My shoulder armor is pink. I will burn you all the same heretic…”
One of the joys of having a blog is the opportunity to show off your completed models. Sure, it means you’re open to the ridicule of the interwebs, but… meh.
It also means that other folks can look at your models and use them as a basis for comparison to determine whether or not they’re any good. Thing is, not everyone works the same. I paint my models one way, another artist paints their models there way; in the end, it just barrels down to whether or not you yourself are satisfied with the fruits of your labors.
By means of example, this week you’ll see Repenters from MenothJohn, UltimateLegion and Bobaferret.
To that end, behold the rather long, 45-photo post on how I did my Repenter… all after the cut of course, since it’s one long table…
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the underdog. No, not the canine in the red sweater, it’s more an affirmation of the Australian idolisation of the “battler” concept – the working class man, fighting to do what’s right for himself and his family in the face of insurmountable odds, usually typified by the upper classes or corporate overlords and the like. Watch The Castle and you’ll get an idea.
This has extended into my gaming life in a number of ways, not the least notable of which being my choosing to play Trollbloods as my first Hordes faction… but we’re not talking about Hordes today, we’re talking about Warmachine.
Specifically, I’d like to welcome you to…
Never let it be said that I’m not prone to whimsy! This week, Lost Hemisphere proudly presents a series of posts focussing on that most maligned of Menite warjacks, the Repenter.
Each day this week you’ll be treated to a post featuring this veritable pariah of the light warjack set, and today we’re going to start with a look at the Mark I Repenter, contemplating its unpopularity, and pondering just what we can do with it before Mk II arrives.
