Scott’s Commentary:
Skorne was intended as my “showpeice” army; Pick up only a few models, and paint them a really difficult original colour scheme. I started the Gladiator over a year ago and chose a supremely unwise 22 colour palette. I found Skorne such an enjoyable army to play, that I picked up nearly every model, and I’ve dreaded my original paint choice ever since.

For this challenge, fury-weak Morghul is teamed with a pair of Titan heavies; My original Gladiator for the dreaded-but-never-quite-pulled-off alpha strike, and a Cannoneer for its good animus, and even better seige gun. A single Cyclops Savage rounds out this list as a table crossing seeking missile of doom to those unwary enough to assume that Skorne is a plodding force.

Tom’s Commentary:
I actually didn’t put too much thought into making this list. I wanted to use a caster I hadn’t painted yet and after Darius was vetoed I was left with Nemo, Siege and Caine. Caine isn’t really known for his Mangled Metal expertise so he was out immediately. I went back and forth on the other two and made a few lists but couldn’t find any for Siege that I was happy with. Nemo has a bunch of anti-jack abilities too so he should be able to stay useful, unless of course I end up playing against 3 Hordes armies. That’d be entertaining hehe. But hey, I’ve been playing Cygnar for a while now so I’m used to having half my abilies be completely useless against 50% of my opponents

I knew I wanted to include at least one Heavy Jack and an Arc Node and it was down to Ironclad/Thorn or Centurion/Lancer due to the limited points available. I went for Thorn as he’s just awesome, and the Ironclad’s Knockdown always comes in handy, as does the extra MAT and Spd over the Cent.

Finally I added in a poor lonely Charger to give me something to do early on, I feel naked without at least one gun. He probably won’t be able to do much against Jacks but POW 12 should be able to ping away at most Beasts and who knows, maybe I’ll get a lucky shot on a knocked down caster at some point

Oh, and I’ve never used Nemo in a game before so this should be interesting

  1. Man, we need to see close ups of those Skorne. They are BEAUTIFUL.

Gdaybloke, perhaps you can arrange something?

  2. Thanks for the kind words!
I’d love to accomodate with better pictures, however my meagre painting skills are much better then my photography. Hopefully the battle report pictures will provide a better vantage point for these models. (I haven’t seen those pictures yet).
Otherwise we will have to sweet talk Gdaybloke into a future feature Skorne episode and shame him into snapping the shots.

  3. My guys look so out of place lol

  4. Meager painting skills? Bah.

I’ve been wanting to do Skorne in a similar style to those. Gdaybloke, can we pretty please with a cherry on top have some nice articles about those Skorne. Particularly the Titans?

  5. Careful, you’ll blow Scott’s ego out of proportion ;) I’ll talk with him when I return from my vacation, see if he wants to write something up about them :)

  6. My ego is pretty secure – Our LGS is blessed with quite a few outstanding painters and sculpters, of particular mention is Spud’s Cygnar, Kyle’s Circle, Ken’s pirates, and Hank’s just about everything.

My fully painted Skorne army is planned for the next Warmahordes challenge currently in planning stages. I haven’t posted pictures anywhere else so I see no reason why they wouldn’t be a good addition to the Lost Hemisphere blog-of-the-future.
