WarmaHordes: Ninja Attack! 1000pts

Apologies for the delay, Paul didn’t get me his writeup in time for me to post it on schedule. Accordingly, he has been wracked.

Ninja Attack! 1000pts, by Paul

Rhyas comes back to the Legion camp barely evading death with a disappointed expression. She did not expect such skill as an assassin from someone within the Skorne empire that could even come close to rivalling her own talent. She had suffered many casualties, losing precious  dragonspawn and Nyss in the battle with the Skorne’s enforcer the Lord Assassin.

Upon arrival there was already a large gathering of Nyss and  dragonspawn, all crowded around Thagrosh the Messiah. She strides to the centre of the circle and that is when Thagrosh bellowed… “Rhyas you
have failed me once again! I shall take matters into my own hands”.

Rhyas stands in the circle proudly and proclaims, “what would you have me do in your absence sire”. Thagrosh replies “you will take your remaining forces and spawn more beasts with Absylonia in the north“. This would not have been such a big deal if Vayl wasn’t right at Thagrosh’s side, but the twins despised this powerful sorcerous that had become a favourite among the Messiah’s warlocks, they did not understand her motives in the Legions grand scheme. Thagrosh continues.

“I will take care of the Skorne force while we prepare for retaliation from the dragon pact.” Ethrunbal had become one of the more powerful dragons on Immoren after swallowing Pyromalfic and absorbing his athanc and life energy. With that Thagrosh, Vayl and their beasts all began to move southeast towards the Bloodstone Marches.

After taking a short breather Rhyas senses a familiar energy, “come with me to intercept this large Troll Brigade, they will surely get in the way of the Messiah and the Disciple’s path to revenge” Rhyas recognized this energy as Saeryn! The bond between these twins were especially strong and their magical talents were formidable when they combine their energies. Where Rhyas honed her body to be a weapon, Saeryn took a different path and focused her attention on developing her mind and magical ability.

Saeryn must have sensed that Thagrosh’s pack had left camp. “My horde of beasts has diminished and the remaining Nyss are beaten and bruised” Rhyas informs Saeryn of her contingent’s status. “No worries sister, I have been spawning a very mobile force…

With this step of the challenge, I wanted to really show off what Legion
could do well, run lots of beasts and use these beasts to constantly put
pressure on the enemy, making them defend against the assassination as
opposed to planning their own.

The Angelius is the perfect example of hitting first, hitting hard, and moving on. With SPD 7, wings and reach, there aren’t many jacks or beasts that will be able to get the alpha strike on the Angel. It’s armour piercing first attack with do a huge amount of damage on that first strike, allowing the angel to hopefully avoid any damaging retaliation. When the Angelius has done its job, it can move onto the next target it wants to plug an AP strike into, allowing the slower portion of the army to finish of whatever it has left crippled in its dust. 

A pair of these beasts provide a solid 1-2 punch into any one target, provide multiple assassination angles or just intimidate the opponent into going where I want them to go.

Rhyas focuses her mind and tries to sense what Saeryn has been up to,
she finds 2 Angelii and a pair of Seraphs as well. The Angelii and
Seraphim have been the core of the Legion advanced force, the Seraph
providing turret fire and the Angelius taking out key components of
opposing forces.

“Sister how much blood needed to be spilled to produce these draconic beasts, surely you did not do this all your own”. “Of course not” replied Saeryn, “this was mostly Absylonia’s work, she was kind enough to lend me these in the hope they would serve me better than your beasts”.

Rhyas was irked by this comment but knew that her sister was the better warlock of the two…

The Seraph provides a totally different weapon compared to the Angelius.
It provides a bevy of lower power shots that are just powerful enough to
take on most infantry. It has SPD 6 and wings, so it is very much as
mobile as the Angelius, but it does not suffer from the serpentine rule
that the Angelius does.

That means the Seraph can trample but more importantly it can also slam! A pair of these can wreak havoc across the battlefield, with one slamming the target and the other shooting it to bits! Without the need to boost the attack roll, the second Seraph can concentrate on boosting the damage rolls, a truly devastating combo!

“Come sister, we can dine on Troll meat tonight!” Rhyas’ eyes lit up with that notion and they begin their journey.
