Goodnight, Miss Brahms

Wendy Richards, the actress who portrayed the innocent, inadvertent sexpot Miss Brahms in the classic British sitcom Are You Being Served, has passed at the age of 65, losing her battle with Breast Cancer.
In 2006 she finished a 21 year marathon in the role of matriarch Pauline Fowler in the seminal British soap opera, Eastenders, for which she received multiple awards. She was also awarded an MBE for her services to television.
I recognise that British television hasn’t had the same impact in North America that it has had in Australia, but I remember watching Wendy Richards performing her craft while I was but a young lad, and greatly enjoying her work.
Thus, Lost Hemisphere marks her passing. She will be missed.
That’s sad news. Thanks to reruns on PBS, I think I was able to watch the vast majority of Are You Being Served episodes. Wendy was one of my favorite characters on the show.
