It strikes me that things get out of control far too often. Tempers flare, emotions rise, trolls are fed and pillars are shaken. Haywire first came to us back in the heady days of MAV, and from the first day he was misrepresented.

This week, we head out on an altogether different tack… well, maybe not, but at least there’s more clothing involved.

One of the most entertaining things for a blogger is seeing all the wierd and wonderful things that crop up in the search query stats. Just what are people typing into their search engines? What unintentional phrases are bring you the mad hits, yo?
Thus, for this week’s Thursday Thirteen, a stroll through some of my favourite terms and phrases that have brought stray wanderers to the Lost Hemisphere.

With Marvel Universe on the horizon, it’s not a bad idea to be mindful of greater forces at work in the cosmos.
This week we see previews of Annihilus and his Negative Zone cronies, representative of the Annihilation Wave and all the havoc it wreaked, before it was trounced by the combined might of some of Marvel’s coolest space-borne characters - heroes and villains both.
As cool as it was seeing Nova finally develope into a top-of-the-line character, the highights for me of the whole Annihilation even were in watching Ronan and the Super Skrull be more than bit players in cosmic events. Damn, but I’d love to get my hands on the Ronan Build-A-Figure. Heh.

For those of you just tuning in: this is week 2 of a 3-week series, wherein I’m trying to cobble together an Invincible Essential Collection using all the combined strategies and techniques I’ve talked about in my previous articles. Last week, we covered the good guys; this week, we cover the bad ones.
I ran into a problem with these guys right off the bat: which bad guys do I even pick? There isn’t a single enemy group in the Invincible universe who can be justified as anything more than a six-character team. So, it seemed like the best solution would be to bring them all into one big “umbrella team” that would contain all the various bad guys from the IP, but still keep the groups distinct by unifying them with versions.

At the invitation of esteemed VS Blog Brother Neil04 (of Darkseid’s Revenge), reviewer of many nifty comics, Lost Hemisphere presents for your edification and enjoyment, a joint review of Marvel’s new release - Guardians of the Galaxy #1
Okay, so I picked up two comics today at my friendly local comic store. Last Defenders #3 and Guardians of the Galaxy #1. One I’m thinking is a lost cause; the other is brimming with the promise of much niftiness. I’ll let you figure out which is which.
I’ll admit to going into Guardians of the Galaxy with mixed thoughts. I’d sipped at the heady cup of excellence that was Annihilation. I’d nibbled at the tasty hors d’ouvre that was Annihilation: Conquest. Could this live up to my expectations?

So it’s the standard Sunday night in the Gdaycave, with Spud and I throwing decks at each other with abandon. Darkseid’s Elite stomps Revenge Squad, X-Men/Avengers trounce the Morlocks, Marvel Knights send Insanity back to the Asylum, the usual drill…

I’ve been playing this one for over a year now, pulling it out when I’m in the mood for goofy shenanigans, and it continues to bring a smile to my face.
In part, this is because of my affection for the Manhunters, as inspired when DGL was released by Jonboy Meyers’ artwork, but I think I can attribute a lot of it to happy memories of being thoroughly vindictive, while simultaneously screwing over large, beaty decks.
While I can’t take credit for the initial build (Oh, how I wish I could - or even that I could remember where I found the idea initially, so I could thank that deckbuilder), the deck that I refer to as Red Robot Revenge is too much fun (when it works!) to leave out of the Lost Hemisphere.

Well, we’re at the end of the week and the Fallout Shelter has given us the final fan-based preview for Crime Lords week. Still waiting for the end-of-the-week summary from Teasy McTeaserpants (and you know EXACTLY who I’m referring to, Mr Zonos), but until that’s up we have a lovely little Red Skull legend plot twist that ties right back to pre-existing Crime Lords goodness.

Aaaaaaaand we’re back. Sorry about last week, but I’ve been doing this non-stop for three months and kinda needed a break.
The subject matter for this little excercise will be my favourite ongoing series: Robert Kirkman’s Invincible.
