Rising to the challenge
May 25, 2008Oh, how I wish that I could attend the Worlds… it’s a smidge (that’s a technical term) over a month away, and the creme de la creme will be there. I’m not talking deckbuilding prodigies and competitive masters, I’m just talking about a bunch of cool folks I’d love to meet in person.
Of course, with the release of Marvel Universe two weeks prior to Worlds, that means a bunch of players are truly going to be…

This tournament has so much potential. So many new cards will flood the market with scant time to properly playtest the decks. We’ve all seen the niftiness of the previews, but will someone be able to slap together an all-crushing Alpha Flight Deck?
Will SHIELD run rampant? Will the new Avengers stuff dominate? What about our beloved Crime Lords? Out of combat stuns from the Negative Zone?
You know, it’s probably going to be NEXTWAVE that rocks everyone’s boats
Mark my words, something’s going to stir up a hornet’s nest. I just with I could be there to see it.
Frankly, watching from the sidelines just isn’t anywhere near as satisfying as taking part in such a momentous event. I strongly encourage anyone who can in any way, shape or form attend, to get off yer keisters and get down there.
Who knows when your next chance will be to meet players of the calibre you’ll find there. Sure, I won’t be there, but you know, you can’t have everything.
I have it on good authority that OnyxWeapon, superb crafter of mysteries and outstanding deckbuilder in his own right, will be in the hizzouse representing the Frozen North and bringing the challenge to those South-o’-the-border types.
…Yes, I’m talking about the Canada/USA border. Didn’t think I’d have to spell it our for you…
In the meantime, I’ll console myself by sitting back and dreaming of what they’re going to do to some of my favourite comic characters with the new set. Aside from the teasing promises of Billy “Teasy McTeaserson” Zonos with regard to characters that are as yet absent from the game, I can’t wait to see just what they end up doing with this guy…

… damn that’s some fine Fegredo art…
