The endeth of the week

May 17, 2008

Well, we’re at the end of the week and the Fallout Shelter has given us the final fan-based preview for Crime Lords week. Still waiting for the end-of-the-week summary from Teasy McTeaserpants (and you know EXACTLY who I’m referring to, Mr Zonos), but until that’s up we have a lovely little Red Skull legend plot twist that ties right back to pre-existing Crime Lords goodness.

With this, UDE’s given us a hyped up version of Kingpin: Overboss’s ability, and it’s hard to say which I prefer, when looking strictly at the redirection ability.

With Kingpin, it’s inherent. There’s no need to worry about missing the option to redirect stuns due to bad draw. There’s no need to worry about it being negated by plot-twist-negating effects or locks.

With Red Skull, it’s broader scope. The redirection isn’t limited to adjacent characters, nor is it limited to a single version of the character.

The fact that the comparison here is between Kingpin and Red Skull is quite amusing in light of this week’s Caption Contest. Tis to laugh.

Looking at the Red Skull 5-drop preview from earlier in the week, Acts of Vengeance is just plain vindictive. Red Skull already puts your opponent in the unenviable position of having to decide whether they want to take burn, or whether they wasnt to have to deal with your characters having extra DEF.

Now, thanks to Acts of Vengeance, you can let them sweat it out for a while, and then when they figure out they have enough attack pumps to get over that +3 DEF hump, you can take that decision away from them again and force them into taking the burn.

Addendum: This was the 130th post on Lost Hemisphere. Keen!
