Sentimentality
April 14, 2008Everyone’s been going nuts recently writing reviews of the previewed MUN cards, spitting out reports from the Chicago Mega-Weekend and the UK Nationals, and in a couple of cases obsessing about the Crime Lords, but I think it’s important to remember there’s more to the game than the cards the UDE puts in our hands.
As lovely as those cards are, seeing this photo (shamelessy pilfered from Ra’s Al Cool’s Fizzle Me Sexy blog) filled me with a warm fuzzy feeling.
These two gents are Cliff and Squire, erstwhile hosts of The Ring Has Chosen over at VSRealms. For almost 50 freakin’ episodes these two lads have been the voice of VS on iTunes, weekly postulating on cards, slapping together decks, and otherwise being the dynamic duo of VS on the interwebs…
…and this photo represents the very first time they got to meet in person.
What an amazing thing, to have worked so closely with someone for so long, to have formed bonds of friendship that will endure for many, many moons, and to finally meet the guy who’s been your partner in crime, the Abbot to your Costello, the Beverly Switzer to your Howard, the Beaker to your Bunsen Honeydew… After all that time, all those episodes…
Cliff and Squire, I salute you.
For the joys of playing, the headaches of deckbuilding, the wonder of friendships formed - I love this game.
PS: Almost 100 prize cards (MAA, MEX, DCX and other EA’s) went in the mail today as prizes for those who participated in March Madness’ betting pools at VSRealms. Thanks for playing, guys! We hope you’ll stick around…

Dude! You’re great! Thank you SO much.
Big Hugs!
Cliff
You’re welcome, Cliff! I’ll leave it to you to decide who’s Howard and who’s Beverly
There were actually a lot more pictures that I took. From what I remember, (I could be wrong) there is a few of the “hey, who is this guy” pictures as well. I’m sending them all off to Cliff pretty soon (I still have to spot them all out).
You guys are the best. Thanks for the tribute and for being some of our biggest fans. We do our show for friends like you.
And here I was thinking you did it for the fame and girls…
Keep ‘em coming, Squire! Lost Hemisphere loves The Ring Has Chosen!
