Crime Lords Guest Article: The Teflon Don
April 13, 2008
Ah yes, dear Lost, it’s time for Crime Lords Month to continue with another instalment of sheer niftiness. How nifty, you ask? Why, niftier than the Duke of Nif who’s just been given a new cup of tea.
For this instalment we take a wander through the mind of Flashback81, or as we know him around here, ‘the git who does the thing… yeah, him, that guy’. Behold, as he puts together a little decklist he refers to as Teflon Don.
Wilson Fisk. The Kingpin. As bald as Lex Luthor, as big as Blob, and as scheming as Darkseid.
But perhaps his best attribute? The ability to find someone else to take the heat when his criminal activities go awry. You might not even know it, but any one of you could be an employee of Fisk Enterprises, owned by a parent corporation, purchased via hostile takeover, placing you as the fall guy for when there’s too much lead paint in Fiskco Action Figures, or when it turns out Wilson Wear clothes are made in sweatshops in Cambodia!
Stunned? Of course you are. But Kingpin sure isn’t.
Teflon Don

3x Kandor
2x Coast City
The best way to make use of Kingpin, Overboss, is to find a lackey willing to take the stun for him, and in turn, reducing the amount of damage you take as a result. And who better to take the hit than the team that personifies Invulnerability?
With free Lois Lane’s, Invulnerable Natasha Iron’s, and “0-cost” Supermen at his side, Kingpin laughs at the idea of you trying to take him down.
With a standard curve, you could have Kandor in play, keeping your back row safe, while the Last Son of Krypton and Kingpin sit out front soaking up all the attacks you can throw at them. It gets even better as the turns go by. Pyrogen can take out anyone that’s coming in too strong, Mr. Fixit can bounce any attacker coming at him, and with Lois Lane dropping for free beside Supergirl, together they can easily take out the two highest drops in play in one attack.
This deck won’t win you a Mega-Weekend tournament, and it won’t thwart the rising scourge of Hidden IG (though Flying High does hurt it a little), but it is a fun build to play with, and when dealing with Crime Lords, that’s all you can hope for.
I’m not sure I agree with the ending sentiment there, but regarless, Lost Hemisphere thanks Flashback81 for his contribution.

Until next time… get Lost!
