Upping the ante: LH’s bounty for the UK Nationals

March 28, 2008

April 5th will see the UK Nationals for VS! You can find info here. After Kamiza’s announcement here, about the number of EA’s being given out (over 300!!! Including Bamf!, for cryin’ out loud! I love that card!), I got to a-ponderin’.

The format for the tourney is BYOS. All cards in the deck must be from a single expansion.

There are so many cool options out there for single-set decks, it’s a tough call to figure out just which set, let alone which deck, is going to dominate… but I know who I’d like to see there.

As everyone knows, I enjoy a deck that goes against the general principles of the game. Shadowpact WANT to have low endurance. Squadron Supreme DON’T want cards in hand. X-Statix only WANT one guy on the board.

My much-maligned favourite doesn’t even want to attack… it wants to BE attacked!

Yup, Crime Lords.

I’ve rambled long and loud about other teams, other characters – let’s show some love for the Kingpin and his peeps!

Thus, I present two bounties for the UK Nationals:

I will personally issue additional EA’s/Prize Cards to any player playing more than three Crime Lords characters in their decks (ie, playing four or more).

Additionally…

Should a player come out with a positive win:loss ratio playing Crime Lords, I will issue unto that player my fifth copy of Enemy of my Enemy. It ain’t mint, but it’s tourney legal…

Stipulations:

  • Willpower: The player must play the deck for the day – no dropping when you just happen to have a good record, stick it out and play it til the end. I’ll be checking with the tourney officials to verify the records of any candidates.
  • Loyalty: The deck must be mono Crime Lords – no characters that do not bear the printed Crime Lords affiliation are allowed in the deck.
  • Unique: Should multiple players actually achieve the desired end result, the winner will be determined randomly. I’ll likely get my 6-yr-old to pick a name out of a hat.

I do this for two reasons. First, I love me some Crime Lords. Second, I love me this game. Anything I can do to support and encourage my Pommy brethren, I will do.

Bring it on, boys! (and any girls that happen to be present)

  1. I love this idea, but will anyone be man enough to actually go through with it?

  2. Who knows, but if they do, the prize is theirs!

  3. Unfortunately, my deck’s already been decided for next week, and I have no money to buy the Crime Lords cards with. Next time Gadget, next time!

  4. Sorry to hear that Alec… Next time indeed…

  5. If you can post the cards to me for next weekend I will run a crime lords deck at the nationals. I’ll post the cards back to you after the event.

  6. I’d be glad to if it wasn’t so close, Dave – but getting cards to you in time would cost me $30-40 – funds which are desperately needed for MUN ;)

  7. Oh well,

Does somebody who turned an entire universe’s heroes into flesh craving Zombies count as a Lord of crime?

  8. Nope, just as a sociopath. Heh.
