By the pricking of my thumbs…
January 17, 2008… something VS this way comes.
Okay, thanks to our old pal Stuby posting a link on VSRealms, the Lost Hemisphere had a nice spike of hits… and some folks are still trying to figure out what the heck he was talking about.
Oddly enough, a both the Tuesday night hobby league at the Hobby Kingdom, and the Tuesday night hobby league that Stu attended, both saw a Superclones deck, and also had a decent showing from the Morlocks. Additionally, hidden Injustice Gang shenanigans showed up.
Is this a sign of things to come a the upcoming Mega Weekend? Who knows, but it may well be that Superman puts in a showing and finally earns the respect that would normally be expected for a flagship character.
Now that we’ve spelled it out for those who were stumped, on to the next ramble.
Those who know me will cock an eyebrow at this, but I’m debating playing a non-Marvel character at the DCL Legends tourney. Why does this cause cocked eyebrows? Because, with the exception of Manhunters, I pretty much only favour Marvel teams in my ecclectic collection. I have playsets of most SecSoc stuff, and a full playset of Legion, but everything else I tend to focus on is Marvel.
So what’s caught my eye this time around?
The Dark Lord of Apokalips.

Why Darkseid? Because there’s a bunch of stuff out there from DLS that works nicely with him, and I’ve managed to buy/trade/pinch more Darkseid-stamped cards than Grodd-stamped thus far.
This brings to mind an little ponder about the weighting of Legends cards in DCL. Grodd gets two character cards and a few plot twists. Darkseid gets two character cards for himself, Desaad as a third, and three plot twists.
Why give Darkseid an extra referential character compared to his Simian SecSoc Associate?
Grodd doesn’t need it.
You can bet your bippy (or, should you be missing your bippy, your left nostril) that people will be assembling Grodd Legend decks purely because he’s a gorilla.
Mark my words: Someone at the Mega Weekend will be playing a deck with both Silver-legal Grodds, Going Ape, Monkey Business, Coup de’Etat and Monkey See, Monkey Do.
In a very roundabout way, THAT is my prediction for what will be seen at the Mega Weekend. SOMEONE will be running a monkey deck!

I have spoken. Let it be so.
